Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Although there is some overlap between the two, there are some important differences.

Consulting:

  • Mental Performance Consultants focus primarily on understanding barriers to performance and helping clients develop and master mental skills to optimize their overall performance and well-being.

Counseling:

  • Counseling, also known as psychotherapy, is a profession regulated by each state/province. Licensed Mental Health Counselors can work with clients to treat mental illnesses.

Of course. Karelle takes a holistic approach to performance consulting. She believes that what is happening off the playing field is as important, if not more, than what is happening on the field. Karelle creates a space where clients can be themselves and where they are treated as whole persons, not just performers.

One of the primary determining factors is where you are located. Karelle is currently licensed as a Mental Health Counselor Associate in the State of Washington. This means that Karelle can only offer psychotherapy services to residents of Washington State.

However, Karelle can provide mental performance consulting services to people no matter where they live.

Absolutely. Karelle believes in a holistic approach to wellness and performance. If you are working with Karelle in her capacity as a consultant and she feels that you would benefit from mental health support, she will empower you to seek therapy with a licensed professional in your state while continuing to work with you on mental skills development.

Please note that I do not accept insurance.

For mental health counseling services, I can provide you with a superbill for each session. A superbill is a detailed invoice that includes all the necessary information for you to submit a claim to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Please be aware that it is your responsibility to check with your insurance company regarding reimbursement for the sessions.

*Good Faith Estimate: You have the right to and will receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost after receiving services. You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate prior to scheduling a service as well. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises

While most EYP services are provided virtually, Karelle can be hired to deliver in-person group sessions, workshops, and speaking engagements.
