July 24th, Tip Of The Week: Build Community and Connection.

A little while ago, we talked about the importance of self-care. Finding ways to self-soothe and create moments of joy for oneself is important. What is also important is feeling like we belong and are connected to others. According to the CDC, “social connection with others…improves your ability to recover from stress, anxiety, and depression…improves sleep, well-being, and quality of life and prevents death from chronic diseases” (2023) to name a few.

This is why today, you will reflect on what connection looks like to you. Take your time to answer the following journal prompts.

  1. When do you feel the most connected to others? (e.g. when they are actively listening to you, when you are laughing together, etc…)
  2. How do you seek connection? (e.g. volunteering, social interactions with like-minded people, social media, etc…)
  3. Do you have a support system? If so, who’s in it? Do you feel like you have enough support?
  4. Are you satisfied with your level of connection? Why or why not?

Be sure to tune back in on August 7th for tips on what steps you can take to
increase your connection with others.
