November 27th, Tip Of The Week: Decompress After the Holidays

Last time, you prepared an action plan to help you manage your health during the holidays. Preparing for events is important. What we often forget to think about, however, is what  happens after it’s all over? Ever heard of the “post-holiday blues”? Sometimes we can experience a “crash” or “slump” after such a busy and emotionally charged period. Although the hope is that your pre-holiday action plan will help mitigate some of the post-holiday blues, it’s still worth thinking about a self-care plan to help you decompress and rejuvenate after the holidays. 

  1. Reflect on previous holiday experiences. How do you typically feel mentally, emotionally and physically? 
  2. What do you need? 

Creating your post-holiday action plan

E.g.  

  1. Schedule buffer time before you go back to work (this may mean cutting your trip short by a day so you can have a day of rest at home)
  2. Schedule a massage
  3. Schedule alone time
  4. Get some exercise
